Wisdom
I have never seen age as an issue
to look too deeply into when deeming the worth of wisdom words from any individuals,
be they young or old.
For them to
be younger, yet be able to give good wordings to certain concerns means that
our future is in good hands. It means they are innovative and they have thought
on the matter. They may make mistakes along the way, but that does not mean everything
that they say is utter baloney. There may still be truth or novelty in them that
can be pursued and developed.
On the other
hand, whilst being older may make one more knowledgeable and experienced that does not mean that they’ll have all the wisdom of the world. Neither does it mean that every word
that they say will be true or appropriate at all.
Age should
not interfere with the worth of a person’s wisdom. When one is wrong, they are
wrong. If they are right, they are right. It does not matter the age. All is
but a human. Mistakes are inescapable, not unlearnable. To not to learn from one
or another’s mistake and go further makes one a fool.
Be that as it
may, everyone’s opinion and words should always be taken in high consideration be they younger
or older as wisdom has never been taught and learned by a single individual.

A letter to Once-ler
In contribute to the children's literature The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, this is a letter written to Once-ler for his ingenious deed.
Just as your name indicate,
I will only say this 'once'.
You should have known what your actions will do
but your greed blinded you to see
how the sky would lose its blue
and how all the animals would leave.
And you thought you are good
for contributing supplies to the community
to your family
You indulged in the glory
and money
that you've forgotten that they'd too can leave.
Now, don't you see?
What 'once' can do for eternity?
I'd hoped you'd regret sooner than this,
but I guess that you were just too hard to please.
Sincerely me,
Nur Hannah Yee

Old Fan
Ancient but moving, spinning as it is asked to,
Never changing, never ending.
Perhaps that’s my fate, spinning about in a circle,
Round and round, endlessly, never changing but my age,
In a never ending spiral of life.
But perhaps it’s not so bad, devoting oneself to the task
they love,
like an old fan.
Never stopping, never giving in to the old age,
Spinning continuously day and night.
And whilst occasionally, someone may flick its switch
Driving it to stop and rest,
For days, maybe weeks, or even years,
Undoubtedly, when its switch is turned back on,
The devotion would still be there
With the same amount of vigor as it was stopped before.

Of money and presents.
Money or Presents?
To receive money as a present?
Or an actual gift (besides money) as a present?
Which would you prefer?
In any other occasion, it is undeniable that money will be
the more enticing choice to receive; compared to a normal present, acquiring
money will allow you to buy the thing that you actually want or need. However,
in my opinion, I'd rather receive an actual gift, that is not money, as a
present.
Why?
It's because receiving an actual present that is not money lets one remember
and cherish the one who gave them the gifts more than those who just gave them
money.
How is that so?
Well, figure me this.
Someone gave you money
▼
Your money
▼
You bought something for yourself
▼
Your stuff
Still don't understand what I'm trying to convey?
Here, the process is something like this.
When someone gives you money, it becomes YOUR MONEY.
When you used that money to buy something, it becomes YOUR STUFF.
In brief, it ends with you buying the item on your own and
unconsciously identifying it as just one of the many items that
you have bought with your own money/effort. You may use the money that you have
received to buy the object you so desire; however, the money receiving part
would never be on par to the fact that you bought the article on your own.
You may love and cherish the item that you bought using the money that you have
received, but it is quite a difficult task to see "the thing you bought"
as "the thing you receive”.
Now, do you get the picture?
You may remind yourself that the money you received is a gift at
first; but due time, you'll inadvertently see it as your money to
use as you wish.
Yes, money is important, but one can get it anywhere either by working for it
or by receiving it;
However, when one receives something which is not money as a present,
the meaning to the thing that one receives will always be "the thing I
received".
Hence, you'll cherish it and the giver more.
Nonetheless, it does not mean that giving money as a present
is bad in itself. If you, in fact, know that the person you intend to give a
present to is in need of money due to unfavorable circumstances they are in,
why not? Why won’t you give them money if it helps them, even if it is just a
little?
Ultimately, it still depends on the situation. :)
On another note, the person who receives the present should
also appreciate what they get.
They should never be ungrateful of what they receive.
At the very least, someone is willing to give you something, right?
Appreciate the effort, no?
And a note for the ones who wants to choose a present to give,
It isn't about the price or the brand.
Even if it's cheap, if you can find something that is useful or within
the receiver's range of interest,
Shouldn't that be enough?
Lastly, and if you really really can't think of
anything to give;
give them some good food.
That always work. ;p

Wound in my heart.
Sometimes,
I find it odd
for how simple
it is for some people
to hurt another
with their words;
without trying
to understand
or be considerate
towards
the other's feelings
or situation.
Other times,
I wonder
why is it hard
for some people
to trust another
even when
they know the other
well enough
and are close to them.
I find it odd
that they don't find
these odd,
sometimes.

Try it.
I don’t
believe it’s bad to trying out new things. It may seem or feel weird at first,
but I don’t believe it’s a bad thing. Nope. Not at all.
As a matter
of fact, I love trying out new things just for the heck of it. I might hate
some, I might love some. I might even regret some, but I believe that this is
what people have to go through in life; that is you have to make your own decisions.
Always.
Sometimes,
you might fall. Other times, you might crawl. But, you still have to move on, no
matter what; because time will never wait for anyone. It’ll always carry on and
on with its job. Even if we were to stumble and fall or get so sick you can’t
even get out of bed anymore; it just won’t wait.
The truth hurts
and life is never a bed roses. Never.
So, I believe
one should always try to enjoy what is in their life; and there are endless new
things to do in life. Endless.
A new
appearance, maybe? Since you've always had long hair, why not trying out a
short haircut or a perm or maybe dreadlocks for once. It’ll be fun, don’t you
think so too?
Or maybe
trying out a new style of clothing? There are all sorts of style like preppy,
punk, modest, sophisticated, sporty, shlumpadinka, edgy, vintage, western, nautical,
beachy, futuristic, rocker, casual, formal, or even hippie.
Whatever
floats your boat I guess? (As long as you are comfortable in them.)
However, I
believe the best way to trying out new things would be; to travel the world.
Every culture and society is different to another; their food, religion, races,
language, clothing, etc. Nearly everything is different! And that’s where you
come in the picture. Travel the world, meet new people and understand the
diversity of it all!
On the
other hand, I understand if you don’t have the money to do so. So instead, you
can just try out small things that won’t use much of your money like reading a
genre of novels that you aren't used to or listening to a different genre of
songs than those in your playlist or maybe learning a new language and discover
some words that sound the same in your own language ( but has different meaning
in another language or cooking up a new recipes or watching a new TV series.
There are just so many new
things to have a shot at and you would never know if you like some things unless you try them just as how you would not understand someone until you get to know them.
So, don’t
just holed up in your own shell and wait for the days to past. The world is a
vast place fill with amazing amazing things. One just needs to explore and find
them out to experience them as they won’t just show up for anyone. It will take
some of your effort but the end will be worth it.
So, why won’t
you want to trying out new things?
